PARENT ENGAGEMENT & EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS

EMPOWER THE PARENT, BUILD A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILD

The Parent Empowerment Programs focus on the parent’s role as “First Teacher” and "Learning Partner.” The Empowerment programs positively impact the parent’s perception of their role in the learning process and therefore have a direct positive impact on their children’s academic achievement and character development.

PARENTS AS LEARNING PARTNERS: a series of interactive workshops that support parents in developing strategies to help their children develop the achievement attitude, habits and critical thinking skills required for continuous learning and academic achievement.

Parents as Learning Partners is an interactive program that:

  • Fosters parent engagement with a combination of journaling, reflection activities, storytelling, group discussion and group activities

  • Provides parents with strategies that enable them to participate in the learning process

The programs and the handbook are available in Spanish.

  • Models and reinforces effective teaching strategies used in the classroom (i.e., Using Questions, Setting Objectives, Identifying Similarities and Differences, Reinforcing Effort)

  • Introduces concepts and language that supports effective communication with teachers and administrators
